News Flash... Kevin is selling his MX5! See the For sale or wanted page for details.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday 12th June at the Twisted Oak, Ide.

Hi all members,

I did mention it at the Tuesday meeting, but I'm now
able to confirm that the RNLI would like us on the seafront at Lyme on
the first Saturday of the 2012 Lifeboat week, that's the 21st July from
10.30am to 3pm.
Chris Lang is organising and will be happy to hear from members who would like more information as we approach the event.

I also had words with MX5 Heaven last week but althought they are
thinking of doing something what that will be and dates are as yet
uncertain.

The South West Area forum has been running since January very successfully.

You will need to go to the National Web Site - click Forum at the top and then click Forum again.

Scroll down to Discussion forums "The Paddock". Select South West.

You can then peruse what is going on. You can join in the discussion but will be directed to a page to enter your email address and club password.

You can try this link -

Thanks to Terri who has produced this programme of forthcoming events...

A really useful suggestion was made by Julian...

For the Sunday run following a meeting we will have a default meeting place of Exeter services at 10.30

Any members can then decide on the day whether to pop along and see if others have turned up bringing their ideas for a drive with them.

This idea can be allowed to develop and a different meeting could be used if members so decide. the Forum shuld be a good communication tool for this idea.

The club meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month...

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 12th June at The Twisted Oak, Ide.

See you there at 7.00 pm .

Please click here for all the news from the National Club AGM which was attended by

Joanna & Derek on 22nd/23rd October (many thanks both of you).

Following our AGM on the 10th January, Chris & Anita have agreed to continue in the role of Area Co-ordinators. Will endeavour to do our best but our time is tight - and so members accepted that we would use the e-mail system less than we have in the past. We have setup the South West forum - see detail top of this page.

All the details of the AGM is now posted on the Copies of Minutes page on this site.

If any members become interested in the role of co-ordinators Chris & Anita will be happy to chat to you!

Please see the panel below regarding next year's Spring Rally being organised by Cornwall Area. Clearly they have done a great deal with lots more to do. Hopefully we will be able to help them out on the big day. We will keep you all informed as plans progress and will tell you all about tasks that Sharon Luxton may like us to help out with.

We now have lots of meetings planned or being planned in the next few weeks or months. Please keep scrolling down for a variety of ideas which will be posted here as they become known. Please scroll down for more.

Cornwall Area plans update for the 2012 Spring Rally:

Subject: MX-5 National Spring Rally 2012 - PLEASE READ
Reply-To: smluxton@talktalk.net

Hi All,

The steering committe has now sucessfully completed it's initial brief from National HQ and what a superb job they have done, we now confirm details as follows:-

1. National Spring Rally Day is booked and deposit paid for Sunday 20th.May 2012 ... to be held at Pendennis Castle, Falmouth .
www.english-heritage.org
This is probably the most expensive car park we are ever likely to use. The good thing is, for all MX-5 members this comes for free !
... But oh boy, what a WOW factor for everyone., and, believe us .... you will definately be proud to be a Cornish Fiver on Sunday 20th.May 2012.

2. Gala Night Dinner Dance is booked, and will be held in the Falmouth Hotel, Falmouth, Saturday 19th May 2012.
www.falmouthhotel.co.uk
The Hotel will seat 180.

3. Pennance Mill Farm Campsite, nr. Maenporth has been chosen as our official campsite.
www.pennancemill.co.uk Less than 3 miles from Pendennis, near the beach, plenty of level grounds and a quiet retreat.

The campsite also adjoins a self catering Holiday Complex, that is offering minimum 4 nights for 6 at £500.00 per unit,
www.pendra.co.uk This could be a major plus for anyone wanting more than just a weekend visit ... even for those of us living in Cornwall !

We can now move forward.
This is where we begin to pull in and utilize all our varied talents, to ensure the Week-End is a resounding success. We are more than capable of providing our fellow National Fivers a Rally to remember.

So, sub-dividing the various tasks required, they fall into catagories of :-

a) Accommodation & Gala Dinner.
b) Marshalling inc. prep signage.
c) Guided Run Teams (each with a Charlie Leader & a Tail end Charlie) for Saturday runs and maybe Friday. Plus organising the standard option for On-line download of simpler runs.
d) Rally Day - Entertainment Organisers
e) Marketing & Graphics
f) A Tombola team
g) On site Co-ordinators.
h) Site Waste disposal .... The Bin & Bog Men.
i) Tradestands .... with His & Her interests
j) Saturday Night bussing/gala co-ordinator.
k) Goodie Bags ( supplied to all MX-5 members on arrival)
l) National Competition link/liason team.

We anticipate that no-one should spend more than 2/3 Hrs per shift ... so enabling us all to enjoy the event.

Webmistress: Fee has now provided us with a link on our Web Site. PLEASE TRY TO USE IT - enrol if you need to . We are a very long county and well spread out. The steering commitee have been experimenting with conference links, via- Skype so, let us know if you have this facility .
It could be a way forward. It certainly cuts petrol costs.

If you have any suggestions, then let us know. We need to come up with some bright ideas for Rally Day. We all have individual interests and talents, which may well tick many of the boxes. Remember - we are promoting ourselves.

So far, ideas that have been muted for Rally Day are Scalectrix, model aircraft/helecopter display, falconry, and lace making demos, have all been suggested. Now is the time to push ideas forward, so PUT your ideas forward on the forum or e/mail us. We will try and respond as best we can and if needs be go to National for advice.

PLEASE imput into any catagory, how ever trivial you may think ... as it may trigger other & better alternatives
We will automatically assume you want catagory 'b & h' unless you clearly indicate which one you would prefer to be asigned to.

Meanwhile :-

Does anyone have any contacts with St. Johns Ambulance in the Falmouth area ?
Does anyone have access to surveyor's ranging poles ?
Does anyone have signage capabilities ?
Does anyone have several pairs of long rubber gloves & a plunger ?
Should we have a raffle for how many MX-5's we can Park on the Pendennis Complex ?

Together, we can make it fun to achieve.

Enjoy, and we'll be in touch soon.

Sharon & Mike
